The search team had operated the underwater drone, which can be considered the first such operation from the Nagaland State Disasterm Management Authority (NSDMA) and potentially the first in Nagaland.

Bodies of two youths, Elanthung Ngullie (age 20) and Thungchio Patton (age 24), who were reported to have drowned on May 27 alongside at Doyang Reservoir in Nagaland’s Wokha district, have been recovered.

The bodies were recovered following relentless efforts by the SDRF, NDRF, and NSDMA teams. Over the course of four days since the persons went missing at the reservoir, the collective team worked tirelessly amid the heavy rainfall triggered by Cyclone Remal.

The search team had operated the underwater drone, which can be considered the first such operation from the Nagaland State Disasterm Management Authority (NSDMA) and potentially the first in Nagaland. However, they encountered challenges during the operation, particularly with decreased visibility due to murky water and obstacles such as old fishing nets and submerged trees.

The two deceased drowned at Doyang Dam in Wokha district on 27 May afternoon when the deceased along with three companions were en route to work in a boat, but the boat capsized due to strong winds causing all five of them to fall into the water.

While, three managed to swim out of the water safely, the two deceased were unsuccessful.

The mortal remains have been handed over to their families after completing all formalities.
