The Inter Ministerial Central Team (IMCT), which arrived on a 3-day visit to Nagaland on September 4, visited Dimapur, Wokha, Kohima and parts of Phek to carry out a spot assessment of the districts post floods.
The IMCT team was apprised with the issues being faced by the districts, particularly Phek and Kiphire, two of the worst-affected districts in the state.
Deputy Commissioner of Phek said that 2540 households remain affected in the districts. A major chunk of the Road remains blocked due to lack of machineries. Similar is the case with Kiphire district which still remains in a deplorable condition.
Although essential commodities have been air dropped and transported by road, there is fear and apprehension that if the rain continues till October, the district may not reach the State of normalcy.
Meanwhile, B.K Singh, the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs said that the memorandum summary sent last month by the Nagaland Government and the current situation differs significantly as the situation has become worse now.
He thereby requested the concerned department to refurnish the report so that the final report could be made at the earliest.
