Nagaland: CNCCI’s indefinite shutdown against multiple taxes, intimidation begins

First Published: 27th April, 2024 11:56 IST

CNCCI has appealed to the business community to participate in the shutdown and also urged people across the state to cooperate with the shutdown call

Shops and business establishments in Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Kohima and Wokha have kept their shutters down today, in solidarity with the Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (CNCCI) call for an indefinite shutdown across the state from today.

The CNCCI has appealed to the business community to participate in the shutdown and also urged people across the state to cooperate with the shutdown call.

The shutdown call comes in protest against the alleged multiple taxation, intimidation and summons to members of the business community in the state, allegedly by various political groups.

The traders’ body is demanding that the Nagaland Government and the law enforcing agencies take cognizance of these activities and take immediate measures to protect the business community.

The shutdown call by the CNCCI comes in solidarity with the shutdown call by the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry or the DCCI, alleging unabated harassment of members of the business community.
