Nagaland: Former MLA L. Khumo Khiamniungan passes away

Born on February1, 1972 Khiamniungan breathed his last at the age 52 years.

Former Nagaland MLA and Advisor, L Khumo Khiamnuingan passed away today at his residence in Dimapur. L Khumo Khiamnuingan had also serving as an Advisor for Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Evaluation and Economics & Statistics.

Born on February1, 1972 Khiamniungan breathed his last at the age 52 years.

As per sources, the former legislator had been unwell for quite some time and had gone to Dimapur for treatment where he passed away.

Sources further informed that a funeral will be held at Dimapur tomorrow after which the body will be flown to Thonoknyu in Tuensang for the last rites.

His sudden demise has been condoled by CM Rio, Dy CM Y Patton, other legislators and civil society organisations.

CM Rio took to social media and expressed his sorrow over the passing of the former MLA. The CM praised L Khumo as a dedicated and truthful individual who worked tirelessly for the welfare of the people of Nagaland.

In a post on X, Rio said, “Deepest condolences to the family of Mr. L. Khumo, former Member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. May the departed soul rest in eternal peace.”

Nagaland Deputy CM Y Patton also expressed shock at the demise of Khiamnuingan. Patton extended his condolences to friends and family.

In a post on X, Patton wrote, “Deeply saddened by the news of the demise of former Advisor Shri L. Khumo in Dimapur. A stalwart who worked tirelessly for the welfare of the people, his contributions and legacy will continue to inspire others. My heartfelt condolences to his friends and family in this moment of grief. May his soul rest in peace!”

The Eastern Naga People’s Organisation also deep shock at the news of the former MLA’s demise.

The ENPO lauded the former legislator for the sincere services he rendered towards the people of Eastern Nagaland. The ENPO in a statement said his demise is an irreparable loss to the state and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family members.
