The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee inducted former minister Ningthoujam Mangi into the party at a grand reception held in Sadbhavana Diwas at Congress Bhawan.

Mangi was a CPI minister in the Manipur State Congress Party government headed by the late Wahengbam Nipamacha Singh. He had joined the BJP on February 5, 2017 and left the party on June 8 this year.

Speaking to the media, Former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh said that this is just the beginning and expressed that more BJP leaders will come and join the party before 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

On the other hand, BJP Spokesperson from Manipur, S Tiken Singh called this a common phenomenon and said that N Mangi had already lost the elections earlier and the candidate who won against him has already joined the BJP.
