Sikkim: MAITRI workers, PMKSY farmers invited to represent state in R-Day parade in Delhi

In view of the remarkable performance of Sikkim in the implementation of Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM) and Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), the Multi Purpose Artificial Insemination Workers (MAITRI) and the farmers of PMKSY have been invited to represent the state in the upcoming Republic Day parade at the national capital.

Speaking to Northeast Live, Lok Nath Sharma, Minister of Horticulture and Animal Husbandry said that a total of 67 team members comprising 47 Artificial Insemination workers under RGM and 20 farmer beneficiaries of PMKSY will participate in the Republic Day celebration at Kartavya Path along with the nodal officers of concerned departments.

Minister Sharma marked the invitation of AI workers and farmers, as one of the historic achievements particularly for entire farming community.

He added that the Union government is keenly monitoring the performance in livestock and agriculture farming and provided this opportunity to the farmers for the first time.

The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying will cover all costs associated with travel arrangements, lodging and boarding for each participant.

The Minister congratulated the farming community and applauded the service rendered by the field functionaries and officers and Sikkim Livestock Development Board in significantly contributing to the success of RGM in Sikkim.

Further, he said that the security and protection of people of the state is his top priority along with carrying out developmental activities.
