The resort is being developed by Sikkim Binding Industries (SIBIN) Group in collaboration with the prestigious Leela Group
Ranka, located just a few kilometres from Sikkim’s capital Gangtok, is set to become the first place of North-East India to have an ultra-luxury wellness-focused five-star deluxe resort.
The Kanchenjunga Tourist Villa (KTV) will be transformed into this first of its kind ultra luxury wellness resort by Sikkim Binding Industries (SIBIN) Group in collaboration with the prestigious Leela Group.
Originally established as a tourist villa and amusement park by the Government of Sikkim, KTV has been lying idle since 2015. The SIBIN Group won the bid to lease and develop the site in 2019, committing an investment exceeding Rs 250 crore for the project. The resort will feature 140 rooms and offer state-of-the-art wellness facilities incorporating Sikkim’s indigenous herbal medicine.
Expected to be completed by 2026 and operational by 2027, the project is poised to elevate Sikkim’s tourism sector and set new standards in luxury accommodation.
Tenzing Pradhan, CEO of the SIBIN Group, highlighted that the development aligns with the vision of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang to establish Sikkim as a premier tourism hub.
Pradhan emphasised the benefits the project will bring, including local employment and opportunities for young professionals in the global hospitality sector. He said, “The resort is expected to have a significant positive impact on the region’s economy, marking a new chapter in Sikkim’s journey as a luxury destination.”
