Over 200 rounds of World War II-era bullet rounds were recovered from Manipur’s border town Moreh on Monday.

According to reports from Moreh Police station, the bullets were rounds for the 303 Rifle which was extensively used during the 2nd World War.

The unused bullets of the bygone era were reportedly dug out by workers engaged in fitting water pipelines near water tank at M Chahnou village in Moreh under Tengnoupal district.

Meanwhile, Moreh Police have retrieved the excavated old bullets.

It needs to be mentioned here that, Manipur witnessed some of the most intense World War II battles between the Allied and the Axis forces in South East Asia.

The Battle of Imphal between British forces and Japanese forces was a major turning point for the Burma Campaign where the Allied forces pushed backed the Japanese forces.
