The deadline for shifting Assam Rifles Battalion headquarters from Aizawl to Zokhawsang is yet to be ascertained as the construction work by the MHA-appointed firm at the new site is still incomplete.

Replying to former MLA V Zaithanzama in written format in the state assembly, Home Minister Lalchamliana said the Assam Rifles were instructed to vacate the main barrack and the paramilitary forces were directed to shift their headquarters from Aizawl by 31st of May. But nothing has taken any concrete shape so far.

The Union Home Ministry had appointed public sector company Engineering Projects India Limited with the task of constructing 38 Type 2 residential quarters for the Assam Rifles. So far nothing concrete has materialised yet.

It is to be noted here that the MHA has directed the paramilitary force to submit a report on the action taken regarding the shifting of the headquarters.
