Woman Gang Raped In Guwahati Temple Case: Last Absconding Accused Arrested

The incident came to light after the video went viral on social media, prompting swift action by the police.

The ninth suspect in the horrific gang rape case that rocked Guwahati’s Boragaon area has been apprehended. Krishna Barman, the final accused, was arrested late Friday night from Golakganj in Dhubri district following an extensive manhunt.

The heinous crime took place on November 17 at a Durga temple in the Nijarapar area of Boragaon, where nine men allegedly raped a woman and recorded the horrific act. The incident came to light after the video went viral on social media, prompting swift action by the police.

On Friday, Garchuk police conducted multiple raids across Guwahati, arresting eight of the accused whole a ninth was absconding. With Krishna Barman’s arrest, all nine suspects are now in custody.

The arrested individuals are:

• Kuldeep Nath (23): Resident of Gakhirchowk, Boragaon.
• Bijoy Rabha (22): Resident of Shiv Nagar Path, Boragaon.
• Pinku Das (18): Resident of Nizarapar, Boragaon.
• Gagan Das (21): Resident of Nizarapar, Boragaon.
• Saurav Boro (20): Resident of Bakul Nagar, Boragaon.
• Mrinal Rabha (19): Resident of Pachim Boragaon, Nizarapar.
• Dipankar Mukhiya (21): Resident of Tetelia, Padumbari, under Jalukbari Police Station.
• Rabin Das (23): Resident of Bakul Nagar, Boragaon.
• Krishna Barman: Arrested from Golakganj, Dhubri district.

The police are now focusing on collecting more evidence and further investigating the case to ensure justice for the victim.
