Voting in Arunachal for panchayat, civic polls concludes; female voters outnumber male

In Arunachal Pradesh, voting for the panchayat and municipal bodies concluded on Tuesday. 52.89 percent polling has been recorded till 4 pm.

A voter turnout of 25 percent was recorded in the first five hours of panchayat elections, while 30 percent exercised their franchise for poll to two urban local bodies.

State Election Commission (SEC) Deputy Secretary Habung Lampung informed that by and large, the election was peaceful.

Female voters outnumbered male voters in the simultaneous polls. A total of 1,23,989 female electors exercised their franchise in the single-phase election, while the number of male voters stands at 1,20,290.

Meanwhile, Tawang district witnessed active participation of elderly voters in the panchayat elections as they pinned their hopes on the elected representatives.

Voting in 1,472 polling stations began at 7 am today. The counting of votes will take place on the 26th of this month.
