The overall voting percentage across the country in the 1st phase Lok Sabha polls was around 62.34%, as per the Election Commission of India data till 9 pm on April 19. The final figure is yet to be released by the ECI. Though there was an overall dip in the voter turnout in the 1st phase across the country, in Assam, however, the voter turnout till 9 pm on April 19 was around 78.25%. Speaking to the media on the sidelines of an event in Guwahati on Tuesday evening, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that voter turnout in Assam was satisfactory.
