Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, today distributed Orunodoi cards to 7 lakh additional women beneficiaries (poor households) in Kokrajhar district, bringing the scheme’s total number of beneficiaries to 27 lakh.

CM Sarma handed over the cards to the beneficiaries under Orunodoi 2.0 at a ceremonial distribution programme held at Green field, Bodofa Nwgwr,Kokrajhar.

The new beneficiaries will receive a credit of Rs. 1,250 on the 10th of every month starting in November, said the Chief Minister.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Sarma stated that a total of 62 lakh households hold ration cards under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), and the BJP-led double-engine government in the state intends to provide Orunodoi cards to at least 31 lakh poor households to alleviate the financial problem of improvised families through substantial income support.

CM Sarma said that since the launch of Orunodoi, the flagship scheme in October 2020, 20 lakh economically weak families have been provided the Orunodoi cards. 7 lakh more families received the cards today, and by 2024, over 4,000 impoverished households will receive Orunodoi cards, increasing the total to 31.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma urged the people to vote for United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) and BJP to retain BJP in power so that the government can bring many such new schemes to help the people.
