ULFA-I planning to target several key installations on I-Day: Assam Police

Singh said that the police has taken note of a possible law and order scenario given the boycott call by the militant outfit for I-Day.

Assam Police has warned that the ULFA-Independent may target several installations in districts of Eastern Assam on Independence Day.

This was stated by Special DGP (Law & Order) GP Singh. Addressing the media after a special meeting of the police in Tinsukia, Singh said that there is a possibility that the ULFA-I may try to target the oil sector and tea gardens on the occasion of Independence Day.

Referring to the ULFA-I as a banned militant outfit, Singh said that the police has taken note of a possible law and order scenario given the boycott call by the militant outfit for this Independence Day.

He further said that security has been beefed up in all districts of Eastern Assam in this regard. Singh further said that the police are monitoring the areas with linguistic minorities so that they are not targeted by the militant outfit.
