Two persons, a man and a woman have been separately arrested by police yesterday in connection to the suspected murder of Inspector Neiphretuo Metsieo.
The Inspector’s body was found on September 15 after he was reported missing since September 7.
The prime accused identified as Yurreingam R Shimray, has been arrested by a joint team of Railway Protection Force, Government Railway Police and Assam Police in Guwahati Railway Station.
Sources said Yurreingam boarded the Dibrugarh–Rangia express train at Dimapur yesterday at 12:10 in the afternoon and arrived at Guwahati Railway Station at around 6:30 pm.
Based on inputs provided by the police to the RPF, all security personnel near Guwahati Railway Station were alerted and additional forces were called in too to keep a sharp eye on the accused and later he was apprehended.
Nagaland Police, which formed two investigation teams to identify and arrest the culprits, identified the second suspect as Ringthingchon. She was arrested on Saturday and kept under the custody of Ukhrul Women Police Station.
