‘Substantial progress made on the boundary issues’: Assam CM tweets after meeting with Arunachal CM

Substantial progress has been made and both the Assam and the Arunachal Pradesh governments “are committed to end outstanding legacy matters” and are working towards resolving the vexed border issue, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Thursday after his meeting with his Arunachal counterpart Pema Khandu in Guwahati on the long pending border issue between the two neighbouring northeastern states.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to twitter, stating that he had a productive meeting with Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
Sarma added the two sides have made substantial progress on the boundary issues and both governments are committed to end outstanding legacy matters and deepen shared value of regional harmony.
“Held a productive meeting with Hon’ble CM of Arunachal Pradesh Shri @PemaKhanduBJP. We have made substantial progress on our boundary issues.
Both of our governments are committed to ending outstanding legacy matters and deepening our shared value of regional harmony.”
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu also took to twitter and stated that both states are working towards resolving the vexed issue with shared commitment and working hard to find an amicable solution. He also informed that both sides have made substantial progress. He also lauded the the Regional Committees of both States for working tirelessly, appreciating the ground realities and recommending the way forward.
” The CM level meeting on Assam-Arunachal border was held today at Guwahati in an ambience of camaraderie & cooperation to resolve all outstanding issues! As per vision of HPM @narendramodi ji & under guidance of HM @AmitShah ji, we are working towards resolving the vexed issue” In another tweet, CM Khandu said, “Shri @himantabiswa ji and my shared commitment is to resolve the long pending border issues between the two friendly states. We are working hard to find an amicable solution. Happy that we have both made substantial progress”. The Regional Committees of both the States have tirelessly worked by appreciating the ground realities and recommending the way forward. Discussed all the issues threadbare which required the guidance at this forum and suggested way forward. “
As per sources, out of the 12 regional committees constituted to submit reports on 86 disputed sites, 7 regional committees have submitted reports stating that there is no further dispute and the matter stands resolved in the respective areas.
The remaining 5 regional committees, meanwhile, will conduct joint visits and have been asked to submit reports by 10th April.
