The long distance and lack of reliable public transportation had begun to affect her academic performance and concentration.
In a nice gesture, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang gifted a scooty to Sristi Darjee, a student from Upper Baluthang in Gyalshing district, to help her overcome the daily challenges she faced while commuting to college.
Sristi is graduation first year student doing her Nepali Honours at Sanchaman Limboo Government Degree College, Gyalshing. She had been facing serious difficulties traveling from her remote village to the college every day. The long distance and lack of reliable public transportation had begun to affect her academic performance and concentration.
During a recent interaction with Chief Minister Tamang, Sristi openly shared the problems she was facing. Touched by her dedication to continue her studies despite all the hardships, the Chief Minister immediately arranged for a scooty to ease her daily travel.
While handing over the scooty, Chief Minister Tamang said, “No child should ever have to struggle to access education due to lack of resources. We remain committed to empowering our youth and removing every obstacle in their path to learning.”
