CM Tamang has urged everyone to uphold his values and refrain from spreading rhetoric to malign his image

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has condemned the “baseless” allegations against Tibetan spiritual leader 14th Dalai Lama after a purported video of him kissing a boy on his lips and asking him to suck his tongue had gone viral.

CM Tamang stated that people are spreading rhetoric to malign his image.

CM Tamang said, “It is disheartening to witness baseless accusations leveled against His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, a global spiritual figure and a messenger of peace. His message of compassion, love, and peace resonates throughout the world and is ever so applicable in current times.”

He further said that the entire Sikkimese people stand in solidarity with the spiritual leader.

CM Tamanag has also urged everyone to uphold his values and refrain from spreading rhetoric to malign his image.

Hamro Sikkim Party founder and president and well-known footballer Bhaichung Bhutia too through a video message has condemned the viral video and said that he stands in solidarity with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
“I have always been a big supporter and follower of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. I was the only athlete in the world to boycott carrying the Olympic torch when the Olympics was held in China. I strongly condemn all the allegations made against His Holiness. I stand and fully support and strongly stand with His Holiness the Dalai Lama,” Bhutia said.
Earlier, the six Tibetan association of Gangtok on behalf of all Tibetan community organized candlelight solidarity prayers yesterday to condemn the circulation of the video insulting the Dalai Lama. Protests were also held in Darjeeling.

It may be mentioned here that the Dalai Lama had issued an apology to the boy’s family as well as to his well-wishers after public outrage over his video.
In his apology, the Buddhist monk said that he regrets the incident and he tends to interact with people in a ‘playful and innocent’ manner.

The video of the Dalai Lama is widely circulating on social media.
