A doctor in a government hospital in Assam’s Biswanath district has been accused of asking a bribe of Rs 25,000 after the post mortem report of a man’s son and grandson.

The incident has happened at Gohpur where doctors at the government hospital asked for money from Chidananda Saikia for the postmortem reports.

Saikia has alleged that he had to pay a bribe of Rs 25,000 to a doctor in the name of an ambulance and sweeper to the hospital doctors.

Saikia’s son had shockingly shot his own seven year old child and then had shot himself dead on November 7.

Saikia, who was already broken over the loss of his son and grandchild, had a rude shock when doctors of the government hospital openly demanded money from him for the post mortem report.

Saikia has now appealed to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to intervene into the matter.

A probe has been ordered into the matter by the SP of Biswanath district, Subhasish Baruah. The Additional SP, Kulendra Nath Deka, has meanwhile begun a probe into the matter.
