NSCN-IM general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah finally broke his silence on the recent developments surrounding the Naga Peace Talks.
Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live at Camp Hebron, Muivah made clear in no uncertain terms the expectation of the NSCN-IM and Nagas from the Peace Talks.
Mincing no words, Muivah said, sovereignty is the right of the Nagas and can no longer be questioned. He also made it clear that the Nagas will not be under the Indian Constitution and National Flag but reserve the right to have their own flag and constitution.
While the NSCN-IM had demanded to be the sole arbiter in the peace process recently, Muivah questioned that when the Framework Agreement was signed with NSCN-IM, why should the Government of India seek solution with others.
Talking on the separate state demand by organisations from Eastern Nagaland, Muivah said it was inappropriate for them to seek separate state from the Government of India. They are free people and the NSCN-IM stands by them, Muivah added.
Speaking on the ongoing state of peace talks, Muivah said only 2 or 3 issues remain unresolved. He added that the word inclusive has been wrongly interpreted. Integration of all Nagas is a must for a meaningful and acceptable solution, said Muivah.
