Tripura Assembly Speaker Ratan Chakraborty has accepted the resignation of Sudip Roy Barman and Ashish Saha.

Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, Chakraborty said that Roy Barman and Saha are no longer members of the Assembly.

It may be mentioned that Sudip Roy Barman and Ashish Saha stepped down as BJP MLAs yesterday.

Both Roy and Saha submitted their resignation to state Assembly Speaker Ratan Chakraborty.

Soon after resigning from the party, Roy Barman and Ashis Saha flew to Delhi.

Roy Barman yesterday said he had taken the step in the interest of the people of the state.

Earlier in the day they both officially joined the Congress in the national capital Delhi after meeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at the latter’s residence this morning.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Vadra was also present at this all-important meeting.

After joining the Congress, speaking to the media, Roy Barman described it as his ‘Ghar Wapsi’, adding that he had finally come back home after a short exile of more than four years.

Sudip Roy Barman also alleged that the law and order situation in Tripura is at stake under the ruling dispensation.

Besides, he affirmed that congress will be forming the government in Tripura next year.
