PWD gets down to repair road after auto drivers try to fix it on their own

New Kunjung, Moulpong, Upper Bagetar, Lodi, and Zion has no alternate road other than the Upper Bagetar road that has been in a bad shape for over 5 years

Days after few auto drivers came together and took it on themselves to fix the pot-holed and broken Upper Bagetar road, the Public Works Department (PWD) of Assam Government has now taken up the job to fix the road.

This is the only road that connects New Kunjung, Moulpong, Upper Bagetar, Lodi, and Zion. People of these areas have no alternate road other than the Upper Bagetar road to connect with the rest of Dima Hasao.

The road has been in a very bad shape for over 5 years and despite repeated appeals to the PWD there was no action taken to repair the road.

It is only after reports of auto-drivers repairing the road by themselves grabbed everyone’s attention that the PWD woke up from their slumber and initiated work to repair the road in full force.

Expressing satisfaction over the repair works, the residents of Bagetar said that at last, after seeing the news reports of the auto drivers trying to fix the road, the PWD is now working.

The residents are now hoping that the work will be done properly and in a time-bound manner.
