The prime accused in the Phulbari gang-rape case is still absconding. Taking serious note of this, the Assembly Committee on Women Empowerment has expressed disappointment over the matter.
Talking to Northeast Live, Chairperson of the Committee, Ampareen Lyngdoh conveyed this and maintained that the police must carry the probe on a fast track basis.
Earlier, the Committee had summoned DGP, N Chandranathan and SP of West Garo Hills Raghavendra Kumar MG to submit a status report on the incident that took place on August 20.
Meanwhile, health minister AL Hek emphasized that the police must play a more pro-active role in apprehending the absconding accused individual.
