Attending a public meeting at Jerenga Pathar at Sivasagar, prime minister Narendra Modi kick-started Assam’s largest land dole to distribute land pattas to over 1 lakh indigenous people of the state.

In his speech, PM Modi cited an evergreen song of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika—O mor dharitri aai, charanate diba thai (Mother earth, give us shelter on your feet).

The prime minister reiterated his government’s commitment to give land rights to the indigenous people of the state.

On the other hand, expressing his gratitude to the prime minister, Assam cabinet minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Providing Land Pattas to the landless people of Assam is the commitment of the Assam Government under the able leadership of @PMOIndia.

Grateful to the govt for their remarkable step. Something very necessary at this hour.”

During his speech, PM Modi said, “From Atal Ji’s government to our government since 2014, upholding Assam’s culture and security has been our priority.”

“Nearly 70 tribes of Assam have been provided social security. We’re also handholding them towards swift development,” the prime minister added.

The Prime Minister said the love of the people of this state brings me back again and again.

“I have had the privilege to visit various parts of the state over the years. I have come to celebrate with the people of the state on a major achievement of the state’s native people,” he said.
