In a veiled attack on the Meghalaya BJP, Chief Minister and NPP National President Conrad Sangma on Wednesday sought to downplay what he termed as “petty politics” by some BJP leaders in the state while asserting that such things will not have an iota of effect on the MDA coalition, since the two-party MLAs were committed to the coalition.

Sangma told reporters that one or two leaders of the State BJP playing petty politics is not going to affect the coalition and assured that the two MLAs of the BJP are very much with the coalition and not at all in line with the State BJP President.

The Chief Minister stated that there are some issues in the coalition which needs to be worked out. He further said that it is important to understand that when in the coalition one needs to be responsible.

On the upcoming MDA coordination committee meeting scheduled to be held on Thursday, the Sangma said that they will be discussing issues pertaining to governance, the overall COVID-19 situation, and matters related to the coalition.

The MDA coordination committee meeting holds significance as the month-long issues that strained the relationship of the State BJP and the MDA coalition will be discussed and it remains to be seen whether the outcome of the meeting will pave a way for better coordination among the coalition partners or take a turn for the worse.
