The Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles undertook an operation in Old Laptang village under Tirap District on Friday and apprehended a hardcore NSCN-IM cadre, identified as Khampai Wangsu.
The NSCN-IM cadre was reportedly terrorising villagers of Old Laptang to extort money. He was also involved in other criminal activities like sending demand letters, kidnapping apart from carrying out extortions in the area.
Meanwhile, the Assam Rifles recovered a pistol and ammunition from the arrested cadre.
