The Naga People’s Front has appealed to the NSCN-IM and the NNPGs to resolve their differences and come together on the same page in regards to the Naga Peace Talks.
Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, NPF President Shurhozelie Liezitsu said that during the meeting of the Political Affairs Mission with the leaderships of the NSCN-IM and the NNPGs, the NPF requested both the negotiating groups to consider each other’s positions and resolve their differences. Paper war not going to help anyone, he said.
The NPF President, however, refrained from commenting on the letter written by NSCN-IM General Secretary T Muivah to Prime Minister Narendra Modi back in February seeking for negotiations at the Prime Ministerial level in a third country.
However, he said that the Naga Peace Talks appears to have hit a deadlock and that the issue must now be looked after by the Prime Minister himself.
Meanwhile, the NPF president has also backed under-fire Peace Interlocutor and Nagaland Governor RN Ravi. He said that Ravi’s roles as Governor and Interlocutor have been jumbled up by a certain section and that he has been misunderstood.
The NPF President further backed the NDPP-led Nagaland Government in regards to its role as a facilitator in the Naga Peace talks. On being asked whether the Nagaland Government has failed to play the role of an active facilitator, he said that there’s nothing more that the State Government can do in this regard.
