Not Cops But Villagers Nab 7 Bangladeshi Nationals in Meghalaya’s South West Garo Hills

Residents of Boldamgre village in South West Garo Hills of Meghalaya apprehended seven Bangladeshi nationals.

In a significant operation, its not the Border Security Force personnel or the police but residents of Boldamgre village in South West Garo Hills of Meghalaya who apprehended seven Bangladeshi nationals who had illegally crossed into Indian territory.

The incident occurred around 6:00 AM, prompting local villagers to alert the authorities. The apprehended individuals were later handed over to the Kalaichar Patrol Post police.

During this operation, officials recovered several items from the suspects, including a Bangladeshi passport, currency notes, mobile phones, and Bangladeshi SIM cards. This incident highlights the ongoing collaborative efforts between the District Police of South West Garo Hills and the Border Security Force (BSF) to enhance security along the India-Bangladesh border.

A case has been registered at Mahendraganj Police Station concerning the apprehension of seven individuals, all hailing from Kurigram District in Bangladesh. The detainees include:

  1. Angur Hussain Afrib (20)
  2. Amir Ali (35)
  3. Chand Miah (60)
  4. Md. Bukul Mia (32)
  5. Mir Jahan (45)
  6. Md. Rasel Ali (35)
  7. Biblop Miah (35)

Earlier on September 27, ten Bangladeshi nationals travelling toward Zikzak in an auto-rickshaw were apprehended at Boirakupi, Zikzak based on an intelligence report. A case was registered and is under investigation.
