The collaboration with Reliance Fresh marks a vital step toward boosting Mizoram’s agricultural sector, increasing market access

In a significant move to empower rural women entrepreneurs, the Mizoram State Rural Livelihood Mission (MzSRLM) has partnered with Reliance Fresh to procure fresh ginger and chilli from female-led Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in the state.

The announcement was made by Prof. Lalnilawma, the Minister for Rural Development, during the inauguration of the 10th Regional SARAS Fair, held from 10-16 December 2024 in Aizawl.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will formalize the deal on 20 December 2024, which will involve the weekly supply of 25 kilograms of fresh chillies and one quintal of fresh ginger from local SHGs to Reliance Fresh outlets. This partnership aims to provide a steady market for rural women’s produce, enhancing their livelihoods.

The SARAS Fair, an annual event organized by the government, serves as a platform for rural artisans and SHGs to showcase and sell their products. This year’s fair features 49 stalls offering a variety of goods, from handlooms to fresh agricultural produce.

The collaboration with Reliance Fresh marks a vital step toward boosting Mizoram’s agricultural sector, increasing market access, and supporting women entrepreneurs.
