A major mishap was averted after a large portion of the outside compound wall of the Kolasib district jail caved in due to incessant rains on Friday, leaving a huge gaping hole in the boundary wall.

However, no injury has been reported in the incident.

Meanwhile, as per reports, additional police forces have been posted near the collapsed wall to ensure that no prisoners escape from the jail premises.

Several parts of Mizoram have been experiencing heavy rains with the onset of monsoon.
