Crackdown by police in Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh on Congress workers marked the Bharat Bandh in the northeastern region.

While in Dimapur police removed banners and flexes put up by the Congress workers forcing the protesters to march to the police commissioner’s office, in Itanagar police detained scores of Congress protesters.

Top Congress leaders were also seen leading the protest with party workers in a bid to strike a chord with the people.

In Assam, bandh crippled normal life as public transport services were severely hit by the protests.

Hundreds of Congress workers hit the streets raising slogans against the centre and demanding immediate rollback of fuel prices.

The bandh, meanwhile, had little impact in Meghalaya due to the court ban on such form of agitations.

The Bharat Bandh also had little impact in Manipur even as Sikkim remained unperturbed by the strike.
