It seems crime is never ending in Assam. On a single day, a case of sexual assault and human trafficking has come to the fore.

In a disturbing incident reported from Nazira, Gelakey a minor boy was abducted from a school and subjected to sexual assault. The accused, identified as Abidul Ali, is reported to have abducted the victim and sexually assaulted him.

The mother of the minor boy recounted, “My son used to study alongside Abidul Ali’s son. Today, due to my husband’s unavailability, I asked Abdul to pick up my son. I could never imagine that he would commit such a shameful act. After the incident, my son was left in a state of shock and unconsciousness. We never imagined Abidul would stoop to this level.”

A case has been registered and police have arrested the accused.

In another shocking incident, two women have fallen victim to human trafficking in Hojai district today.

Families of the two victim women alleged that a gang of three men identified as Jalal Uddin, Nur Nehar and Falani lured the women by promising them jobs. The whereabouts of the women are still not known.

The victims’ families alleged that the men trafficked women from nearby villages to Mumbai and other cities to engage them in illegal activities.

The victims’ family has already lodged a complaint in the Hojai police station. Police are investigating the incident but have not been able to arrest any of the traffickers.
