Meghalaya: Twist to Rimpu Bagan raids, explosives recovered

Following the recovery of the explosives, the police have added charges under the Explosives Substances Act against Marak.

Tura Police have recovered a huge quantity of explosives from Rimpu Bagan, the farmhouse of Meghalaya BJP vice-president Bernard Marak.

This indeed is a big development after Bernard Marak’s arrest. As per inputs, 35 gelatin sticks, and 100 detonators were recovered during the raid. The explosives were recovered from a secret chamber in Rimpu Bagan.

Following the recovery of the explosives, the police have added charges under the Explosives Substances Act against Marak.

State BJP vice president Bernard Marak is being brought to the Tura CJM court. Marak was taken for medical examination to the civil hospital earlier following which he is now being taken to the CJM court.

West Garo Hills SP Vivekananda Singh Rathore told Northeast Live that the police will seek 14-custody of Marak.

The West Garo Hills SP added that the police have gathered sufficient evidence against the Tura MDC.

Marak who was arrested from the Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh after a country-wide lookout notice was issued against him has been brought to Tura on a 2-day transit remand.

Marak had gone absconding last Friday after a raid at his 30-room farmhouse on the outskirts of Tura.

At least, 5 minors were rescued from the place by the police while around 70 others including 23 women were arrested.
