Meghalaya Health Minister AL Hek said that the medical experts predicted that there will be a spike in COVID-19 cases in the state by September and October.

Talking to reporters, Hek said that the government is prepared to tackle any kind of eventuality to combat COVID-19.

The Health Minister further said that the state government will leave no stone unturned in the fight against this pandemic.

On Saturday, 8 more persons tested positive for coronavirus, taking the total cases tally to 2,248. The fresh cases include 6 persons from East Khasi Hills district and two from South Garo Hills district.

With the recovery of 23 more patients in the last 24 hours, the total number of recoveries in the state has reached 981.

The active cases now stands at 1,257. So far, 10 persons have succumbed to the infection.
