Shillong is set to witness a major boost in its tourism and urban landscape with the announcement of a four-star hotel at Orkid Polo. The hotel is expected to strengthen Meghalaya’s tourism industry, which already boasts of popular properties such as Courtyard by Marriott, Pinewood Hotel, and Vivanta by Taj in Shillong.

The redesign incorporates traditional elements such as Sohra stones, sustainable bamboo, and thatch roofing. A unique addition is a flower bed crafted from repurposed soil sourced from Marten, showcasing the state’s focus on sustainability and eco-friendly practices.

The development of the four-star hotel at Orkid Polo is a key component of this multi-faceted strategy, which also includes enhancing public spaces and promoting sustainable urban growth.
