Meghalaya Education Minister Reveals Plans for Shillong’s Captain Williamson Sangma State University

The Meghalaya government is actively working on plans to establish the Shillong campus of Captain Williamson Sangma State University.

Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma said efforts are underway to identify a temporary location, with the former NIT campus in Laitumkhrah, the land which is under NEHU, being considered as a potential site. The Bijni Complex, previously part of NEHU, is also being explored as a viable option.

For the permanent campus, the government is in the process of identifying suitable land.

The Education Department has reached out to the Urban Affairs Department to facilitate the establishment of the state university’s permanent infrastructure.
