Manipur unrest: Gunfight breaks out again between militants & security forces in Moreh

Armed miscreants targetted the security teams led by Superintendent of Police (SP) and OC Special Commando.
Heavy firing between security forces and armed miscreants at Manipur’s border town Moreh, along the India-Myanmar border, resumed in the morning today after a brief pause last night.
According to sources, the exchange broke out when security forces were moving towards Moreh ward number 8 for patrolling. Armed miscreants targetted the security teams led by Superintendent of Police (SP) and OC Special Commando.
Earlier last evening armed miscreants targetted the barracks of security forces. Combined teams of security forces comprising Assam Rifles, BSF and state police commandos retaliated to the firing by armed miscreants.
Sources said that armed miscreants were looking to target the SP of special commando and
Commandant of 5th IRB. Reports of bomb attacks have also come to the fore. Sources said that around 2 dozen bombs have been used against the security forces.
Earlier on December 30th and 31st heavy firing took place in the border town of Moreh. On December 31st a Team of combined security forces which was conducting patrols in and around Moreh came under attack from armed men with automatic weapons and bombs.
At half a dozen security personnel had received injuries in the attacks last week. And once again today the situation has turned volatile in the Manipur border town of Moreh.
