More incidents of poll violence are coming to the fore from Manipur. The election agent of BJP’s Karong candidate in Senapati has demanded a magisterial inquiry into an incident of violence at Namju polling station under the constituency.

In a complaint filed with the Returning officer the BJP candidate’s agent alleged that one person had died due to firing by security personnel posted in the polling station while another is battling for life. The injured has been airlifted to RIIMS in Imphal.

The incident allegedly took place at Namju village polling station.

As per reports, the duo were trying to take away EVM machines from the polling booth.

Meanwhile, the DC has assured proper inquiry into the incident. Poling has also been stopped at the Namju polling station. 

It may be mentioned that earlier in the day supporters of both the Naga People’s Front and Independent candidates got into a clash in Tobumai Polling Station in under Mao Assembly Constituency in the Senapati district.

Meanwhile, team Northeast Live was attacked by miscreants during poll coverage near Tobumai village.

It is believed that clashes broke out when two buses carrying voters from Kohima were attacked by miscreants before reaching Tobumai village. Many voters were reportedly injured in the incident.
