As the state goes for 1st phase of polls multiple incidents of violence have been reported from poll-bound Manipur.
The biggest incident so far has been reported from Keithelmanbi polling station under Saitu assembly constituency in Kangpokpi district. Congress supporters in the polling station accused the BJP supporters of staging a booth capture.
As the situation spiraled out of control, security personnel resorted to blank firing to restore normalcy.
BJP candidate Ngamthang Haokip and Congress candidate Lamtinthang Haokip are in fray from Saitu.
Apart from a few stray incidents of violence polling has been by and large peaceful in the 38 assembly seats undergoing voting today.
