An active cadre of Kangleipak Communist Party (Noyon) was arrested on Tuesday during a joint operation conducted by a combined team of Chief District Officer (CDO) Moreh and personnel of Assam Rifles.
The arrested cadre has been identified as self-styled 2nd Lieutenant Naorem Amarjit.
On receiving specific inputs, the team rushed to the spot and nabbed the cadre, who is a resident of Sugnu Makha Leikai in Kakching district of Manipur.
He joined the outfit in February 2014 and was working under the command of self-styled Lieutenant Langamba of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Noyon) outfit.
The cadre has been handed over to Moreh Police Station and a case has been registered for further investigation.
The Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) had been engaged in an armed struggle to achieve sovereignty for Manipur since 1980s and the party has been divided into numerous factions.
