Manipur Govt releases Constitution of India in Meitei Mayek script

PM Modi for allowing the Manipur government to draft the Constitution in Meitei Script

In a historic move, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today released the Diglot Edition of the Constitution of India in Manipuri Language (Meitei Mayek Script) on the occasion of Constitution Day today.

CM Biren Singh has released the Constitution in Meitei Mayek Script in a programme to celebrate the Constitution Day at the Cabinet Hall of Chief Minister Secretariat in Imphal.

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh read out the Preamble of the Constitution in Meitei Language and honoured the translators of the Diglot of the Indian Constitution in Meitei Mayek / Meitei Script with the certificates of recognition.

He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allowing the Manipur government to draft the Constitution in Meitei Script.

“Manipur is a very small state.Even though we have a very small population, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership has allowed us to publish the Indian Constitution in our own language. I would like to thank the authorities of the Parliament and PM Modi for recognizing my state,” said CM Biren Singh.

Speaking about the terrorists who are opposing to come to the mainstream, CM N Biren Singh said, “Given that how Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other central leaders have respected and acknowledged Manipur, people of the state should consider to return to the respect and regard to them. Therefore, I appeal to the people of the state to work together for a better and united India,” he added.

Education and Law Minister Th. Basanta Kumar; Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan; Social Welfare Minister H. Dingo along with three BJP MLAs and others were aalso present at the event.
