In a major development, the Federation of Government College Teachers Association (FEGOCTA) has rejected the order on the 7th UGC Pay and Regulations released by the Higher Education Department, Manipur

In a major development, the Federation of Government College Teachers Association (FEGOCTA) has rejected the order on the 7th UGC Pay and Regulations released by the Higher Education Department, Manipur asserting it was ‘incomplete’ as it did not mention about adopting the UGC Regulations, 2018 and other provisions.

In a statement released by the teachers’ body spearheading the ongoing protest in Imphal, FEGOCTA while welcoming the seriousness by the government in issuing the order, stated that FEGOCTA rejects the order as it contradicts the Cabinet decision of August 6, 2020.

FEGOCTA also stated that the order does not mention anything about 7th UGC Pay on the lines of Revision of Pay (RoP), 2019 including the effective date, payment of arrear and cash payment.

The teachers’ body further informed that the ongoing cease work agitations will continue until completely acceptable orders are issued as per Cabinet’s decision.

The government of Manipur on Thursday issued the long-awaited notification for implementation of the 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018. According to an order issued by the Higher Education Department, the Pay and Regulations Act will be implemented with effect from July 1st.

The government had appealed to the teachers to resume their duties and lift the boycott on Classes.

It needs to be mentioned here that Government College Teachers went on boycotting classes from February 18, demanding implementation of the UGC Pay acts, which the state cabinet had approved 6 months ago but was yet to be implemented by the Education Department.
