Manipur government has declared all accredited working journalists as frontline workers. The state will vaccinate the scribes against COVID-19 on priority.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh stated that the effort of the journalists to disseminate news and risk they are exposed to is no less than other frontline workers.
The chief minister further said that in recognition of all accredited working journalist as frontline warriors, the state government will now vaccinate all the journalists on priority.
Taking to Twitter, Biren Singh said, “We recognise the effort of our journalists to disseminate news & the risk they are exposed to, is no less than other frontline workers. In recognition of all the accredited working journalist as Frontline Warriors,the State Govt. will now vaccinate all the journalists on priority.”
Earlier, he also informed that four more Covid care centres, with a capacity of over 1,000 beds have started functioning in the state.
Apart from Manipur, Goa too have included journalists in the group of frontline workers and will be vaccinated on priority.
Several states like Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala too have prioritised vaccinating journalists, declaring them as frontline workers.
