The Anti-Smuggling Unit of Custom Division, Imphal on Tuesday seized drugs worth Rs 5 crore in Manipur’s Kakching district.
Custom officials recovered huge quantity of Amphetamines tablets weighing approximately 5 kilograms and arrested a person for illegal possession of the contraband item. The contraband drugs was found concealed in a cement bag.
Acting on specific inputs, sleuths of the Customs Division intercepted a person carrying blue colour cement bag who was heading towards Imphal at Kakching Lamkhai in Kakching District.
On searching the cement bag, the officers found three brown colour packages labelled “3030 Expo quality” and two black colour packages and recovered 50,000 Amphetamine tablets.
The arrested person has been identified as HL Shonkhogam Mate, a 31-year-old resident of Tengnoupal Bazar in Chandel District.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered under relevant Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
