Man Accused of Molesting Minor Adivasi Girl Inside Assam University, Silchar Arrested

A campus worker at Assam University, Silchar, accused of molesting a 14-year-old Adivasi girl, was arrested yesterday.

A campus worker at Assam University, Silchar, accused of molesting a 14-year-old Adivasi girl, was arrested yesterday. The accused, 57-year-old Farukh Ahmed, allegedly molested the minor girl inside the Law Department of Assam University on January 31.

According to reports, the victim, a relative of a university housekeeping staff member, was assaulted inside the department. Following her complaint, an FIR was registered at Dwarbond Police Station under the POCSO Act.

With cooperation from university authorities, police successfully tracked and arrested the accused. The case is being closely monitored due to its sensitive nature and inter-community implications. The investigation is ongoing.
