Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today said that a Magisterial enquiry has been set up to probe the violence that took place in Tura on July 24, 2023.

The high-level enquiry will reveal what had actually happened on that day, who were the people engaged in stone pelting at Chief Minister’s office in Tura while the CM was having discussion with leaders of ACHIK organization inside the CM’s mini secretariat on various issues raised by them.

Speaking about the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Jagdish Chelani’s statement that there was no conspiracy to assassinate the Chief Minister on that day, CM Sangma said, “As far as I know, the DC later provided a clarification claiming that he was not quoted accurately in terms of what he actually meant. I would not be able to respond as to what he was saying in what context as I did not make the statement.”

Stating that the law and order has to be maintained, Chief Minister reiterated that action will be taken on the basis of evidence and facts.
