LS Polls 2024: ZPM’s LS candidate Richard Vanlalhmangaiha files nomination in Aizawl

He was accompanied by ZPM chief and Mizoram CM Lalguhoma and other senior members of the party. Richard would be contesting for the lone Lok Sabha seat of Mizoram.

Richard Vanlalhmangaiha, Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM)’s candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha election today filed his nomination papers at the District Election Officer’s office in Aizawl. He was accompanied by ZPM chief and Mizoram CM Lalduhoma and other senior members of the party. Richard would be contesting for the lone Lok Sabha seat of Mizoram.

Talking to the media after filing his nomination, Richard said that whether he will be with NDA or INDIA if elected, will be decided by his party’s high command.

Richard also said that his main focus, if elected as MP, will be to work for the development of Mizoram, and that though he is going to fight with MNF’s MP candidate and sitting Rajya Sabha MP K. Vanlalvena, the fact that he is the ruling party’s candidate will give him a strong chance to win the election.

His other opponents are Congress’s Lalbiakzama, People’s Conference’s Rita Malsawmi and Independent candidate Lalhriatrenga Chhangte, a former Congress leader.

Born on 3 August 1978 at Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, Richard Vanlalhmangaiha, popularly known as Richie, is a newbie in the world of politics. He will be contesting elections for the first time. He, however, comes from a family of politicians. His grandmother L. Thanmawii was the first elected female MLA of Mizoram and his grandfather, Dr. Rosiama was the Chairman when the Mizo District Council was formed in 1952.

A Commerce graduate from Hrangbana College, Aizawl, Richie is an entrepreneur now after his stint as Assistant Manager of the Mizoram Agriculture Marketing Corporation (MAMCO) which he left in 2015.

Richard’s vision includes-

•             To establish Permanent Farming System

•             To build Rural Godown / Warehouse for the success of an Organised Marketing System

•             To develop Entrepreneurship for Mizo youths

•             To attain self sufficiency in eggs and poultry

•             As part of the central government’s policy, he plans to establish JNV School at the three new districts

•             To establish a Rice Mill for the proper packaging of rice produced in the State

•             To take steps in the processing of locally produced vegetables
