KPA's exit won't affect Biren Singh Govt as we have absolute numbers: Minister Sapam Ranjan Singh
A day after the Kuki People’s Alliance (KPA) announced its decision to pull out of the Biren Singh-led government in Manipur, Sapam Ranjan Singh, Manipur government spokesperson and Minister in the Biren Singh government today downplayed the KPA’s exit and said that this would have no impact on the Biren Singh government as it has the “absolute number”.
“As far as the government is concerned the decision of KPA withdrawing the support would not affect the government in any way since we have the absolute numbers”, said Sapam Ranjan Singh.
KPA has two MLAs – Kimneo Haokip Hangshing from Saikul Assembly Constituency and Chinlunthang from Singngat Assembly Constituency.
In the 60-member Manipur Assembly, BJP has 32 MLAs and the party enjoys the support of five NPF MLAs and three independent legislators.
The opposition legislators include seven from the NPP, five from Congress, and six from the JD (U).
Speaking on restoring peace in the state, Sapam Ranjan Singh said that both central and state governments have been working day and night to bring peace to the state.
“The central government, as well as the state, has been working day and night, putting all efforts to make sure the peace comes back to us”, added Minister Sapam Ranjan Singh
