The police has arrested the tantrik involved in the bizarre ritual and attempt to sacrifice a three year old toddler in Assam’s Udalguri. Police nabbed the tantrik – Ramesh Saharia from Kuruwar in Assam’s Darrang district.
Saharia has denied the allegations that he influenced the Jadab family to perform the rituals. But he confessed that he knew the Jadav family from the past 10 years.
Meanwhile, Udalguri deputy commissioner Dilip Kumar has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the death of the 23-year-old Pulakesh Saharia, who died in police firing on Saturday.
Additional District Magistrate-cum-In-Charge of Bhergaon sub-division, Gakul Chandra Brahma would be conducting the probe. Anyone wanting share any information reagarding the case should appear before Brahma between Wednesday and Friday. Brahma has sought a report from the police about the incident.
Eight persons were found disrobing themselves on Saturday in Udalguri while chanting prayers at the residence of a science teacher Jadab Saharia and were allegedly trying to sacrifice a three year old girl when neighbours and police arrived forcing police to resort to firing to stop the sacrifice.
Pulakesh, son of Jadab Saharia and a Bachelor of Computer Applications sustained bullet injuries during the firing and succumbed to his injuries on Monday.
