Itanagar dist admin terms bandh called by AAPSC aspirants ‘illegal’, imposes Sec 144

Arunachal Pradesh Public service Commission (APPSC) aspirants have called for a bandh on February 17
The capital complex district administration has declared the indefinite bandh called by the Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee to be observed on Friday as ‘illegal’ and imposed Section 144 prohibiting gathering of 3 or more people within 300 metres of the Raj Bhavan.
In an order issued by the Itanagar Capital Complex district administration, any kind of gathering or assembly of four or more persons exempting government officials has been prohibited.
“An order under Section 144 CrPC dated February 16 has been issued prohibiting the gathering or assembly of three or more persons exempting government officials and security forces on duty within a radius of 300 meters around the Raj Bhawan and Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Itanagar,” the order read.
“It has been reported through social media that some individuals/groups of individuals have declared an indefinite strike/bandh call w.e.f 05.00 AM of 17. February’2023 which though has been declared illegal and unlawful by the District Administration.” it added.
The Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee or the PAJSC has called for a bandh in the Itanagar capital region in the wake of the oath-taking ceremony of the new APPSC chairman and members today.
The bandh has been declared from 5 AM on February 17.
The committee has pressed its demand for a halt on the oath-taking ceremony.
The aspirants and civilians on the other hand, has decided to go ahead with the bandh.
